News from Laloma

Summer 2026

At the transition between Spring and Summer the wildflowers in the Village hedgerows and Laloma’s garden are at their peak. With campion, stitchwort, primroses, bluebells, scarlet pimpernel, forget me not, valerian, oxe-eye daisies, vetch and so many more beautiful plants and flowers.

There are many lovely beaches near to Helford Village, each with different activities they are best suited for such as rock pooling, dog walks, swimming, surfing, paddle boarding and snorkelling. Or you could paddle board or hire a rowing boat and explore the creeks around the Village such as the famous Frenchman’s Creek. There is a slipway next to the pub in Helford where you can launch a paddle board.

The weather in Cornwall is at its best in Summer with wide deep blue skies, long bright days and turquoise seas that make you feel like you could be in the Mediterranean.

There are delicious ice creams, drinks and foods to browse at the shop next door, the pub and cafe are bustling and the village has many visitors exploring the beauty of the area.

Summer at Laloma

There are two lovely outdoor seating areas at Laloma, both with stunning views of the surrounding creek and Village. So take a cuppa or a meal outside and enjoy the sounds and warmth of a Cornish Village in Summer.

The swifts and swallows are always present swooping and calling and the friendly robins and blackbirds would love to share crumbs from any biscuits you might have.

There are many lovely walks to take from the Village, including coastal or woodland routes. You could then enjoy a meal at the Shipwrights Arms pub and sit by the water to cool off and relax. Or try rock pooling or crabbing at the Helford Point. You can also catch a foot ferry here to visit Helford Passage.

The stars at Laloma are stunning on a clear night due to the lack of light pollution and you can regularly see the Milky Way, planets, satellites and meteors. Make yourself a hot drink and either lie on a picnic blanket on the lawn, stand on the carpark by the creek or sit on the picnic bench for the best stargazing experiences.

Especially during these periods:

Delta Aquariids – mid July to late August – 25 meteors per/h

Perseids – mid July to late August – 100 meteors per/h

Laloma was our 5th stay in Helford and by far the best. Location, standard of F&F, reserved parking & cleanliness was exemplary.
